Whenever we go for grocery shopping, we’d always be on the lookout for items that are undamaged or have the best appearance.
However, there are some tactics that are simply unacceptable, such as opening cartons and swapping the eggs around just to get the “perfect” batch.
Spent 15 mins picking eggs
According to a photo shared by a shopper, it showed an elderly couple sifting through several egg cartons at a FairPrice supermarket in Singapore.
According to the OP, they had allegedly opened the cartons and switched the eggs around until they had found the best to fill up their carton.
They were opening all the egg cartons to choose eggs. They transfer here and there until they found the ‘perfect’ eggs then proceed to the cashier to pay.
“Even my boy asked how can they do that?” the OP wrote.
Netizens condemn couple’s actions
The couple’s method in choosing the “best” eggs didn’t sit well with netizens, who called them out for tampering with fresh produce.
They also urged the supermarket to lodge a police report against the couple for their unsanitary act.
Supermarket responds
In response to the incident, a FairPrice spokesperson told Stomp that customers are advised against tampering with products or its packaging prior to purchase, as doing so may impact the quality of the product for all customers.
“FairPrice has in place a quality assurance policy that allows customers to exchange or refund products that do not meet quality standards.
“Should customers have any concerns with a product, kindly approach our staff for assistance or reach us at our Customer Service Hotline at 6380 5858 or via fairprice.com.sg/help/feedback-general.”
