No one likes it when their personal belongings get stolen, but is it considered a line crossed when the victim threatens to place a curse on the thief?
An iPhone owner in Singapore was so irate over the fact that his iPhone got stolen that it drove him to post a letter demanding the phone’s return along with a note that would make many bristle.
S’porean threatens to place curse charm over stolen iPhone
In a photo shared to the Facebook group Complaint Singapore yesterday (Nov 25), it showed an open letter which was written by a visibly angry iPhone owner and pasted outside a lift.
In the letter, the iPhone owner described the phone as purple in colour and had a light pink phone case, one he was very certain was stolen by someone else.
The owner added that the iPhone was locked using the ‘Lost Mode’ feature so that it cannot be used by anyone.
Furthermore, the owner gave the thief an ultimatum: either return the iPhone or give it to a police station within a week, or suffer grave consequences in the form of a curse charm.
I’ll reward you after you return it, otherwise you will be cursed your whole life by the charm. I’ll destroy the charm after you return (the phone).”
Towards the end of the letter, a photo of what seemed to be a Taoist fulu talisman, commonly used to ward off evil spirits, is attached.
Netizens’ reactions
In the caption, the OP asked whether the letter and curse charm was effective in helping the owner retrieve the stolen iPhone.
Some gave witty responses, with one joking that the curse charm wasn’t as effective as it wasn’t fully written, while another suggested that it be printed in the right size and colour.
A netizen simply quipped: ‘You never try, you will never know.’
Meanwhile, another netizen praised the iPhone owner for spending the effort for coming up with such a “creative” letter.
