S’porean Hiker Found Safe A Day After Going Missing At Kota Tinggi, Johor

He also sustained minor injuries.

A 33-year-old Singaporean who went missing while hiking at the Hutan Panti Forest Reserve in Kota Tinggi, Johor, has been found yesterday (Sept 18).

Went missing a day before

According to Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora, Jason Ren Jie was reported missing on Saturday (Sept 17).

“We received the reports at 3.26pm from a local man regarding the case. A team from the Batu Ampat police station was then deployed to the scene to help with the search and rescue operation,” he said, as quoted by The Star.

He added that Fire and Rescue Department and the Johor Forestry Department took part in the rescue operation as well.

However, they were unable to locate Jason as of 11.30pm on Sept 17 and decided to resume the operation the next day due to poor visibility.

Found along Kota Tinggi-Mersing highway

Fortunately, the police received a call at around 2:20pm on Sept 18, where a member of the public said that Jason was sighted at the 52km-mark of the Kota Tinggi-Mersing highway, according to a statement.

It also said that a response team was dispatched to the scene and that Jason had sustained minor injuries.

He was later sent to Hospital Kota Tinggi for treatment and will be handed over to the Forestry Department for further action as he didn’t have a permit to enter the forest reserve.
