A viral TikTok video is giving Singaporeans a good laugh after a man was seen happily vibing and singing to Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song “Espresso” while riding his motorbike on the road.
Halfway through enjoying the chorus, the car in front of him suddenly switched lanes and slowed down.
Without missing a beat, he blurted out, “Dei go inside faster la dei,” before immediately returning to singing the song like nothing happened.
He later captioned the video with a pun that perfectly summed up the moment: “Was feeling like espresso but he went in the lane so slow it made me depresso.”
The video, posted on his TikTok account @silas_nathan97, quickly went viral. It was also not his first.
Nathan has uploaded several similar reaction videos, all capturing his chaotic mix of joyful singing and sudden (but harmless) road frustrations, which consistently crack netizens up.
‘I would sing then randomly scold someone on the road’
Speaking exclusively to WeirdKaya, Nathan said the idea for these videos came naturally from his everyday rides.
“I think the idea came about when I first started riding a few years back. I used to sing and my fiancé, who was my girlfriend at the time, would laugh because halfway while singing I would scold someone on the road for driving slowly, not signalling or braking,” he said.
He also credits a Singapore riding content creator, Zan Ape, as one of his inspirations. Nathan said he enjoyed the videos so much that once he could afford a camera, he decided to record his own riding moments.
“The unfortunate but fortunate thing for me is that with Singaporean drivers, there is always something,” he joked.
Listens to all kinds of music while riding
When asked whether he is genuinely listening to music during his rides, Nathan said yes, and that his playlists are all over the place for a reason.
Yes, I am listening to the songs and the reason why my song choices are always far apart is because I used to DJ and emcee. When it comes to genres, I am really open to anything and everything under the sun.”
From mellow singalongs to high energy tracks, whatever he plays eventually becomes part of the comedy when combined with his real time road reactions.
