In a recent move to attract more drivers, Singapore’s Westpoint Transit, with a history of 42 years, has announced an enticing offer for bus drivers, according to Shin Min Daily News.
The company is offering a monthly salary of SGD 5,000 (approximately MYR 17,457.66) and an additional signing bonus of SGD 10,000 (around MYR 34,915.32) to new recruits.

This initiative aims to hire 30 drivers, with no nationality restrictions, provided they hold both a Class 4 driving license and a professional license.
The business development director of Westpoint Transit, Lee Jian You, in an interview with the Shin Min Daily News, stated that the recruitment drive, divided into two phases, is part of a broader effort to draw local youth into the bus service industry and break the stereotype of bus drivers as blue-collar workers.
The first phase targets hiring 10 drivers by January 15, 2023, and the second phase aims to recruit 20 more by mid-March 2023.
Lee affirmed that despite the high salary offer, the company is confident of managing the costs.
He mentioned future plans to offer internships to attract younger demographics, as driving buses is a childhood dream for many.
Apart from the salary, the company focuses on the well-being of its drivers, offering healthcare benefits and free fitness classes.
Regular training on the latest bus technology is also provided to help drivers navigate the roads more effectively.
