During job interviews, employers will ask candidates tons of questions, as well as require certain documentation to prove that they have what it takes to fill the position.
A netizen recently questioned the need for employers to ask candidates who hold a degree to produce their SPM certificate at job interviews, a topic which has since sparked widespread discussion.
‘Why ask for SPM cert?’
The issue was first brought to light in a Threads post, where the OP shared a screenshot of the question: ‘Why do companies still ask for SPM results when we already have a degree? Can anyone explain?’

The OP then asked netizens to give their opinions or provide answers to a question which he felt was a valid one.
A majority of netizens said that it was completely normal for employers to request for an SPM certificate from potential candidates as it helps to shed more light into their academic abilities.
‘A degree can be bought, but not an SPM cert.’

‘SPM reflects one’s intelligence, a diploma reflects one’s resurgence, while a degree/Master’s/PhD reflects one’s perseverance.’

Another said SPM shouldn’t be taken lightly as it often acts like a “zombie”, where employers may still request for one’s SPM results years later.
