Ujang Samsudin, a 63-year-old cobbler, became a social media sensation when a passerby shared his story online.
His small stall in Bandar Baru Ampang suddenly saw more customers, bringing hope to his struggling business.
However, life is still tough for Ujang.
While the viral post brought in more people, there are still days when earning even RM10 is a challenge.
Ujang continues to work hard, offering shoe, bag, and belt repairs, but business is unpredictable.
“I’m grateful for the increase in customers after the post went viral, but life must go on. Some days, it’s still hard to even earn RM10,” Ujang told Berita Harian.
He’s willing to negotiate prices just to make enough to cover his daily expenses.
“I don’t want to depend on others, but sometimes you really have no choice. That’s why I’m willing to adjust my prices to match what customers can afford, just to make sure I can earn enough to get by,” he explained.
