A Kelana Jaya LRT ride turned into a nerve-wracking experience for several passengers after smoke was seen coming from a train this morning.
Photos and videos of the incident have since circulated online, showing smoke around the train while it was at the platform.
Some passengers were also seen covering their mouths and noses from the stench.
Passenger said train was “smoking”
In a Threads post, one passenger claimed that the train was “smoking” and that passengers were asked to get off at Abdullah Hukum station.
Another passenger also posted online saying they had already smelled a strong burning odour two stations earlier.
She initially suspected something was wrong but did not want to believe it was an issue with the train.
However, things became more worrying when an announcement was made, saying the train would end its service at the next station.
The passenger also claimed that before reaching the station, the train briefly stopped halfway. When they looked outside, they saw smoke coming out from it.
At the time of writing, Rapid KL has yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the smoke or further details of the incident.
