Six-Coach KTM Komuter Train Overshoots & Hits Platform Wall, No Injuries Reported

No injuries were reported.
A KTM Komuter train overshot the end of the tracks at Platform 4 of Butterworth station early this morning, but no injuries or fatalities were reported.

In a statement released by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), the incident occurred at 6.01 am and involved a six-coach train set (SCS03) that was not carrying any passengers at the time.

The train was operating as part of routine daily operations.

Train services remain unaffacted

KTMB confirmed that their technical team arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to begin recovery and safety inspection works.

The affected train is currently being relocated,” it wrote.

All other passenger train services at Butterworth station remain unaffected and continue to operate through Platforms 1, 2 and 3.

However, Platform 4 is temporarily closed to allow for inspection and repair works.

Internal investigation underway

KTMB advised all passengers at Butterworth station to follow safety instructions provided by station staff to ensure smooth operations and the safety of all commuters.

An internal investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.

KTMB also assured the public that operational safety remains their top priority and that necessary steps are being taken to ensure continued smooth service.
