A neighbour came by the victim’s home and called out for her. At the time, the front door was wide open while the metal grille door was locked.

When a response wasn’t given, the neighbour sensed that something was amiss and alerted police at 1.40pm.

Police were later told that the victim, a single mother, lived at the unit with her 15-year-old son and earned a living by transporting students to school.

When contacted by MalaysiaGazette, Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail confirmed the incident and said police are still waiting for the post-mortem to be completed at Hospital Kepala Batas.
