A man in Singapore has stirred intense discussion online after he intervened in a dramatic encounter between a python and a cat by grabbing the snake’s tail and spinning it in the air until it released its grip.
The man shared the incident on social media yesterday (Oct 30), recounting that he heard unusual sounds coming from a nearby bush.
When he moved closer, he discovered a calico cat trapped in a drainage channel, tightly constricted by a python.

Grabbed the python’s tail and spun it
The man wrote that he immediately grabbed the python by the tail and used force to lift and spin it, creating enough centrifugal force to make the snake loosen its grip.
A video attached to his post shows the python being swung several times before finally releasing the cat.

He added that the moment the python let go, the cat “shot into the bushes like an arrow.”
Rescue sparks strong reactions
The post quickly went viral and drew mixed responses. Some netizens accused the man of disrupting wildlife and questioned why he appeared to be filming while rescuing the cat, suggesting he might have been seeking attention.

Others, especially cat lovers, defended his actions, saying he showed quick thinking and courage during a critical moment.
