Singapore PM’s Fluent Malay Speech Praised By M’sians, Indonesian Netizens Also Claim Credit

Wow.
When Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong delivered his speech in Malay, many were impressed.

But the Internet, as usual, had other plans, such as a language debate breaking out in the comments section.

Some thought it sounded more like Indonesian

A number of Indonesian netizens quickly claimed Wong was actually speaking Bahasa Indonesia.

However, not everyone agreed, with several netizens explaining that what Wong spoke was Singapore’s national language.
