Singapore Airlines Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence, Results In 1 Death

Deepest condolences to the affected families.
Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321, traveling from London (Heathrow) to Singapore, experienced severe turbulence while en route on 20 May 2024, resulting in one fatality and injuries among passengers and crew.

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, was diverted to Bangkok, where it safely landed at 1545 hours local time on 21 May 2024.

In a statement released by Singapore Airlines, the airline confirmed the unfortunate incident and extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.

Mr Goh Choon Phong, CEO, Singapore Airlines, said: “On behalf of Singapore Airlines, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased passenger.

The airline is collaborating with local authorities in Thailand to ensure that those injured receive necessary medical attention.

A team from Singapore Airlines has been dispatched to Bangkok to provide any additional support required.

According to AsiaOne, passengers from flight SQ321 arrived at Changi Airport Terminal 2 around 5am on May 22. They shared images of emotional reunions with anxious family members, marked by hugs and tears, as Singapore Airlines personnel guided them to the pick-up point.
