This morning, prominent Chinese news outlet Sin Chew Daily saw its Facebook page disappear from the social media platform this morning, leaving readers stunned and puzzled over it.
Thankfully, the disappearance didn’t last long as the Facebook page has officially been restored, as per a check by WeirdKaya.
What caused Sin Chew Daily to lose its FB page?
In a statement released by the news outlet, it said that its Facebook page was suspended for a total of six hours before getting reinstated.
It also revealed that throughout 2024, Meta had removed five of its posts on Facebook, which included reports on domestic and international scams, bullying, and police investigations of sexual crimes.
Meta claimed that these posts violated community guidelines and suspended our Facebook page without warning.
“After submitting evidence to prove that Sin Chew Daily did not violate any community guidelines but was simply fulfilling its media responsibility, Meta lifted the suspension six hours later,” it wrote.
