One of Malaysia’s most prominent media outlet within the Chinese circle, Sin Chew Daily, has had their Facebook page taken down from the social media platform.
This morning, many Malaysians tried searching for the page on Facebook but have been unsuccessful so far.
Sin Chew Daily confirms suspension
The incident was later confirmed by the news outlet, with its management saying that they had received a suspension notice today.
They also added that they are currently appealing to Meta to have their Facebook page restored.
“We urge our affected fans and followers of Sin Chew Daily’s Facebook page to stay updated by following the official Pocketimes Facebook page, regional Sin Chew pages, or by subscribing to the Sin Chew Daily WhatsApp channel for the latest news updates.
“Additionally, the Sin Chew Daily app and other social media platforms remain fully operational,” it said.
The move comes as a huge blow for the Chinese media outlet, which currently boasts of 2.6 million followers on its Facebook page.
