Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue Department Operation Commander Nizam Mohammad said preliminary checks revealed that the car’s engine had most likely sparked the fire and caused the flames to engulf the vehicle, resulting in it being destroyed by 60%.

“The flames were put out by the BSI agencies using a fire hydrant and three fire extinguishers; the department has only come to monitor the situation to ensure that it is under control,” he said as quoted by The Star.

Thankfully, the Singaporean couple managed to exit the car in time without any injuries before it was completely swallowed in the inferno.

Earlier, several clips showing the BMW burning away was shared widely on social media, including one from SG Road Vigilante’s YouTube page, where the person behind the camera could be heard commenting, ‘(The fire’s) getting bigger eh.’

Another clip filmed by a passerby showed thick pillars of smoke billowing from the BSI building as firefighters fought to control the blaze.
