As always, there have been news of public spotted Singapore-registered cars pumping at petrol stations in Johor Bahru with some “tactics” to somehow maximise their fuel consumption over the causeway.
This time, a Singapore-registered Mercedez driver was caught on camera “dapaoing” {takeaway) petrol RON97 at a petrol station at Petron Taman Pelangi, Johor Bahru.
It showed the driver of a white Mercedez-Benz S-Class sedan was seen filling up not one, but two plastic containers with RON97 petrol before placing them inside plastic bags and then into the boot of his car.
The video was shared on a Facebook group SG Road Vigilante – SGRV which has over 1.2k reactions and over 90k views.
Netizens: “Don’t jump to conclusions”
The driver’s behaviour of “dapao” (takeaway) RON97 petrol in two containers, and then putting them inside plastic bags and placing them in the car boot has raised suspicions among many.
Some have speculated that the driver may be attempting to transport the petrol back to Singapore.
However, some think that netizens should not jump to conclusions solely based on the video.
It is important to note that transporting petrol in jerry cans or any other unapproved containers is illegal in both Singapore and Malaysia, and can lead to serious safety hazards.
