If you’re not a citizen of the country you’re residing in, you must have valid documents that allows you to stay for specific period of time.
A Singaporean national who lived illegally in Malaysia for more than a decade had his stay finally brought to an end after Johor immigration officers raided an illegal premise on Sunday (Feb 25).

According to statement by Johor immigration department director Baharuddin Tahir, he said the Singaporean man, now 34 years old, was found to have been staying in Johor Bahru since 2011 when he was 21 years old.
Aside from the Singaporean man, a Bangladeshi was nabbed for breaking the conditions of his pass while two Indonesian and one Pakistani man were detained for not having valid documents to reside in Malaysia.
The operation, codenamed Ops Bernama, was jointly conducted by the enforcement division of the immigration department along with the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) and the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG).
This comes after residents complained of encroachment activities and illegal structures built on public reserves without permission as well as the presence of foreigners on Jalan Wadihana.
Baharuddin said all five detainees were taken to the Setia Tropika immigration depot for investigation and further action.
He added that they had committed offenses under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), Section 15 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155), and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
He also said the Johor immigration department will continue to “intensify operations to combat the issue of an influx of illegal immigrants”.
