A Singaporean couple’s shopping trip to Johor Bahru (JB) was brought to an unpleasant end after they discovered that the car window was completely busted open by a thief.
Furthermore, they also lost several belongings, such as a hot water thermos and a pair of AirPods.

SG couple loses AirPods and thermos in JB robbery
Speaking to Mothership about the Dec 18 incident, the victim named Azhar said he, his wife, and 1-year-old son travelled to JB in his colleague’s car for a shopping getaway.
Upon reaching JB, he parked the car at Little Genius Baby Products Centre located at Tebrau 3 at around 10am and spent the next two hours shopping.
When they returned at 12pm, they were shocked to find the window at the right passenger window behind the driver’s seat reduced to glass fragments.

Aside from the smashed window, Azhar added that a black Hellolulu backpack carrying his son’s hot water thermos and his wife’s AirPods were stolen from the back seat.
When asked why he left the belongings at the back seat, he replied:
The reason why we left it on the back seat was because we thought it was broad daylight and the compound was supposed to have security walking around.
“I also speculated with my colleague that the car was targeted due to the fact that it was an old Hyundai Sonata which didn’t have an alarm.”
As a result of the robbery, Azhar said he was unable to take his son to the indoor playground at Aeon Mall in Tebrau City and instead had to spend the rest of the day filing a police report.

‘Don’t leave your belongings in the car’
Azhar told Mothership that he initially wanted to pay for the damages inflicted to his colleague’s car as he felt rather guilty about it.
However, his colleague said that he would claim for the damages from his insurance company.
Azhar also had a word of advice for Singaporeans travelling to not just JB, but anywhere in public.
“I would like to caution Singaporeans that anything can happen and to be vigilant and not put any bags on their seat no matter how small the items. The trouble we go through reporting and repairing the window is not worth it.”
