A man and a woman were charged in the Sessions Court today (Aug 20) over an alleged act of animal cruelty involving a male dog named Rocky.
Muhammad Shah Idham Nor Haikal Shaharom, 24, and S. Roghini Devi, 42, were accused of strangling the dog using a looped rope in July.

Incident allegedly happened outside a house
According to the charge, the incident allegedly took place between 11pm and 11.30pm on July 29.
Reported by NST, this happened in front of a house along Jalan Sama Gagah 20 in Taman Telok Gedung Indah.
The charges were read separately to both accused, who appeared in court as summoned persons.
Both reportedly remained calm while the charges were read.
Could face up to 3 years in jail
The duo were charged under Section 29(1)(e) of the Animal Welfare Act 2015.
If convicted, they could be fined between RM20,000 and RM100,000, jailed for up to three years, or both.
