M’sian Man Stunned By RM5.30 Sandwich That Had Close To No Filling At All

Scamwich of the year.
What would your reaction be if you find yourself being served a sandwich that appeared to be bursting with ingredients, only to have it turn out to be grossly untrue?

This was the unpleasant reality a man recently faced when he bought a sandwich from a convenience store and was left deeply baffled and disappointed by its amount of filling which definitely didn’t match the price.

Man buys RM5.30 sandwich that had little filling

In a Facebook post shared by Nazri Ahmad on Tuesday (Sept 10), he wrote that he had bought a RM5.30 sandwich from a convenience store located at a petrol station in TTDI Jaya.

On the outside, the sandwich appeared to be full of ingredients, but when Nazri’s daughter picked it apart, he was shocked by what he saw.

In one of the photos accompanying the post, the filling was pushed to a single corner of one of the bread slices, giving consumers the impression that they were getting their money’s worth when it wasn’t the case at all.

Aside from the pathetic amount of ingredients, the sandwich label was also riddled with several spelling mistakes, with one egregious example being the word ‘healthy’ getting misspelt as ‘helathy’.

Needless to say, Nazri was displeased by the level of dishonesty on full display, where he sarcastically wrote in the caption that it would’ve been better to market the sandwich as “an empty sandwich”.

He also added that his daughter was equally as floored by the incident, where she commented how “easy” it was for vendors to earn money, albeit under false pretenses.

‘Shameful!’

In the comment section, netizens were outraged by the blatant dishonesty being shown through the sandwich’s filling and roundly condemned it.

Some wrote that such instances made it hard for Malaysians to support locally-made products due to poor reputation.

Another jokingly said that the label should be changed to ‘Sandwich Scam‘ to accurately reflect its miserable amount of filling.

Meanwhile, a netizen advised Nazri to lodge a complaint with the convenience store so that the services of such vendors would be terminated.

In response, Nazri revealed that the vendor had a checkered record as it had received many complaints about its products in the past.

Back in 2022, a major convenience store chain issued an apology after a customer exposed a ‘scamwich’ sold at one of its outlets:
