Chinese New Year is just one week away but my mum still hasn’t bought her CNY groceries, which has made her all hot and bothered.
Since then, she has been nagging me nonstop to help her fulfil her CNY shopping list, but I wasn’t exactly in the mood as I was sick of the endless traffic jams I had to endure since the start of 2022.
Suddenly, a brilliant idea came to me out of the blue – why not give HappyFresh a try in getting freshly handpicked items by their personal shopper?💡
After downloading HappyFresh’s online grocery app, I was impressed by how smooth and super easy it was to use. I was also pleasantly surprised to see a list of major supermarkets and stores to choose from.
My mum was initially unconvinced by the app’s “abilities” but after she saw the enormous amount of promotional items and vouchers available for both new and existing users, she instantly became a fan.

Another feature of HappyFresh’s app was that the prices shown are exactly the same with in-store purchases! In fact, there were some items which were way cheaper than what I used to get from a nearby supermarket.
This time round, my mum and I decided to purchase our CNY items from Lotus’s and all we had to do was to choose the products we wanted to purchase.
Thanks to the app’s simple user interface, we were able to locate the items with just a few clicks as every item had been categorised accordingly.

While using the app, I discovered that one of the greatest perks of being a first-time HappyFresh customer was the thrilling vouchers that were available for my first purchase.
For example, by using the voucher code MYHAPPYFIRST, I’m entitled for a 20% discount (capped at RM20), free delivery, and 888 points when I spend only RM28! Syok giler!
This time around, I decided to use the SUPERKAW50 voucher (valid until Feb 7, 2022 only) to get RM50 off my bill which amounted to RM250++ after adding 29 items into my cart.
Although we had to pay RM9 in service and packaging fees, I didn’t mind it at all as it saved me the trouble of having to sit through a torturous traffic jam and to look for a parking space. Mind you, these two alone would’ve cost more than RM9 already!
The HappyFresh app also offers a wide range of payment methods for customers, including e-wallets and cash on delivery (COD)!
Sit back and relax as your personal shopper does the job
After placing our order, all my mum and I had to do was to simply laze around at home and wait for our order to be delivered right to our doorstep. #bestjobever
But you may ask, “Eh, what should I do if one of the items I selected is out of stock?”
Good news! There’s a feature in the HappyFresh app that allows your personal shopper to keep you updated on your order progress and you to choose your replacement item before checking out your order.”

In my case, the personal shopper suggested that I replace the pre-packed chicken with a tub of Nestle ice cream and even took a picture of the ice cream so I’d know the packaging and flavour is like selected.
My mum was so impressed that she couldn’t help but take a cheeky jab towards my dad.
Wah, this is so unlike your impatient dad. Simply pick, never follow my grocery list and always buy the wrong items!
The next question you may now have in mind would be this – will the total amount be revised after replacing a product since the price is different?
Little did I know that this was something I didn’t have to worry over as the app will automatically recalculate the total amount and refund the balance according to your payment method. Sweet!

At around 12pm, we received all the items we bought and my mum was extremely pleased to see the correct products being sent to us in a good condition.
With the app, I can now say sayonara to long waiting lines and unwanted workout sessions caused by carrying these cartons of drinks all by myself!😍
Now that my mum’s a fan, I’m pretty sure this won’t be the last time she’ll be using the app for her next round of shopping. In fact, she’s now browsing it through and hoping to get more vouchers even as we speak.
