Some suggested lodging an official complaint with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, even sharing links to the ministry’s online complaint portal.

Many netizens mocked the pricing, describing it as an easy way to make money.

Others joked that the restaurant might be selling “atas” (high-class) water, while pointing out that the barley water priced at RM8.80 seemed like a better deal.

However, some defended the restaurant, noting that the RM2 charge likely included service tax and other fees, making it not entirely unreasonable.
