A 63-year-old man who had already retired from the police force was nabbed along with two others for possessing materials that require police permission beforehand.
When caught, he had a rather bizarre reason as to why he would risk breaking the law by pretending to be a police officer.
Retired M’sian cop arrested for posing as police officer
According to Selangor police chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, he said the trio were caught by the head of the Cyberjaya police station, who was carrying out a routine crime prevention patrol near Lakefront Residence, Cyberjaya, on Sunday (May 25).

“He noticed the three men — dressed in police-style uniforms — loading equipment into a Proton Waja made to resemble a police patrol vehicle.
“He detained the trio and discovered various items, including police cones, roadblock signs, uniforms, berets, vests, boots, handcuffs, beacon lights, and toy gun replicas ranging from pistols to assault rifles.
“Upon questioning, the suspects claimed they were part of a production crew hired to portray police officers for a drama being filmed,” said Hussein as quoted by NST.

Among the suspects detained was a former police officer, who previously held the rank of Sergeant Major before retiring four years ago.
Pretended to be a cop as he missed being one
Sin Chew Daily reported that the retired cop had reportedly missed the good old days of him donning the uniform that it spurred him to purchase a police gear online so that he could play the role again.
Aside from buying the police gear, he even offered himself to take on acting roles as a police officer.
Hussein said the ex-cop and his accomplices were nabbed for violating the Police Act and to assist in investigations.
