Posted on XiaoHongShu, a video shows a household engulfed in thick smoke and the residents of the apartment rushing out from their room.
Residents evacuating
According to a man featured in the footage, a fire broke out in a lower unit, causing the smoke to rise.
In the video, several men can be seen attempting to extinguish the fire while female residents hastily evacuate their units, rushing towards the emergency staircases.
In the video, someone also shouted that the lift is no longer working due to the fire alert.
Started by a cigarette butt from higher floor
When the apartment management and security personnel arrived at the scene, residents alleged that the fire was caused by a cigarette butt thrown from a higher floor, which landed on a cardboard box on the 28th floor.
The swift response by residents in extinguishing the fire ensured no significant damage or injuries occurred.
