In an interview with Sin Chew Daily, the residents, most of whom worked as laborers, said that they had lost their jobs since the beginning of FMCO.

“We’ve been jobless for months. Our savings have run dry and we’ve gone hungry for a long time.”

Thankfully, the residents’ cry for help did not go unheard as a man named Lee, who owned an eatery called ‘Flat Restaurant’, came to their aid and gave the four affected households some daily neccesities together with his daughter.

Lee also prepared 40 food baskets and placed them at his restaurant for anyone who needed it, earning him much public praise for his act of kindness.
