A RapidKL bus burst into flames and became a raging inferno all of a sudden while it was still moving along a road in Petaling Jaya this morning.
According to Harian Metro, the incident took place at Jalan SS25/23 Kampung Chempaka and shocked many passersby.
Chief of Operations Movement Center of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in Selangor Zulfikar Jaffar said they received a call regarding the incident at 6.46am.
A team from the Damansara Fire and Rescue Station, consisting of six members led by Operation Commander Hasnol Hadi Mohamed Roslan, immediately rushed to the location.
“The fire involved a RapidKL bus without any passengers and was driven by a man in his 40s on the way to the Damansara Puchong Highway (LDP) exit ramp.
“The driver managed to escape and did not suffer any injuries,” he said in a statement today.
Zulfikar said firefighters successfully brought the fire under control at 7.05am and completely extinguished it at 7.18am.
He added that the bus was 90% destroyed and authorities are currently looking to uncover the cause of the blaze.
