Many Malaysians find themselves struggling with repaying their National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loans, leading to a significant number of borrowers defaulting on their payments.
To tackle this issue, the authority has launched student loan discounts and it is about to end on March 31.
To locate the study loan defaulters, they’ve devised a masterstroke by posting “missing person notices” to seek those “vanished” university graduates to repay their study loans.
Through a post published on their official Facebook page yesterday (1 March), they asked netizens if they have friends who have “disappeared from the face of the earth” without repaying their student loans, inviting them to tag these individuals.
Do you guys have friends who have disappeared like this? Haa, try to 𝘵𝘢𝘨 them below, yeah. Admin doesn’t want to catch them, you know. Admin wants to help them start repaying the PTPTN loan.
The discount for repayment is about to end. So, let’s help the admin find our friends together. It’s also okay if you want to tag yourself.”
The funny post has caught the attention of the netizens and garnered more than 1.3k reactions, 461 comments and 385 shares.
Ironically, based on our observations, the comment section was flooded with more people who had paid off their study loans or those who had always been paying.
There was a netizen reflecting on some issues like the troublesome rescheduling process.
“I really want to pay, but that’s the thing. Every time I want to reschedule, I have to pay a fairly large amount. Is there an easier way to reschedule? I really want to start paying.”
Some were suggesting that life is too hard for them to pay.
Have you paid your study loan? Be sure to do it before the discount is over by 31st March.
