In a touching display of kindness in Taiping, two police officers have been lauded for their compassionate response to an elderly man in distress.
A Chinese man in his 70s, after his dialysis session, was riding his bicycle home when he fell due to hunger and weakness.
Fortunately, a patrol car passed by, and two compassionate police officers immediately helped the elderly man up and escorted him to a nearby tea shop for a meal.
Their kind gesture has won great praise from the netizens.
The heartwarming incident was shared on the Taiping police’s Facebook page, recounting how the patrol officers came across the man who had taken a tumble.
Corporal Izwan and Constable Diren who were on duty did not hesitate to provide immediate assistance.
According to the post, the old man who is a resident of Kampung Dewan was on his way home when he succumbed to fatigue.
Local vendor Xu Guosheng witnessed the event around 5pm yesterday (3 Nov) and praised the officers for their swift action when interviewed by Oriental Daily.
“The spirit of helpfulness was truly alive,” Xu remarked, giving a thumbs-up to the officers’ conduct.
The elderly man, who had not had the chance to eat, was supported by the officers and taken to a nearby tea shop for a much-needed meal.
In a community effort, a Malay and an Indian passerby immediately rushed to help, and a kind resident assisted in bringing the man’s bicycle to the shop.
This act of kindness from Corporal Izwan and Constable Diren has not only provided immediate relief to the elderly man but has also strengthened the bond between the police force and the community they serve.
The officers’ gesture has been met with widespread approval and serves as a reminder of the impact of community care and compassion.
