Police have advised the public not to take matters into their own hands over issues involving the Rohingya community.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said any complaints or information involving alleged misconduct should be channelled to the police instead.

He said the authorities would take action according to the law if any wrongdoing is found.
Report to the police first
Mohd Alwi reminded the public that they should not act on their own, especially in situations involving the Rohingya community.
If there is misconduct by the Rohingya, they should file a police report first so that the police can take appropriate action,” he reportedly said.
He also said that so far, Perak police have not received any reports or complaints involving criminal activities or misconduct linked to the Rohingya community in the state.
Police monitoring the situation
According to Mohd Alwi, police will continue to monitor the activities and movement of the Rohingya community from time to time.
He added that the police would also discuss with the state government if there are any issues that require further action or assistance from the authorities.
His comments came after a campaign calling for the public to “capture Rohingya” reportedly made rounds on social media recently.
Mohd Alwi said the matter should be left to the authorities, and any action must be handled according to the law.
Manjung among areas being watched
The issue has also drawn attention in Perak, especially in Manjung, which is believed to have a large Rohingya population.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad was previously reported as saying that the state government would monitor issues related to the community, including safety concerns involving locals.
He also said the matter had been discussed in a National Security Council meeting, and the state government would leave enforcement matters to the authorities.
For now, police are urging the public to stay calm, avoid taking personal action, and lodge reports if they have any valid complaints.
