The frigid conditions resulted in frost covering the area from the Sub Stesen Panalaban Complex in Kinabalu Park to the summit of Mount Kinabalu.

The sudden cold snap turned the usually grippy granite surface into a slippery, ice-covered obstacle course, requiring climbers to be extra vigilant during their ascent and descent.

Despite these unexpected conditions, the climbing activities on Mount Kinabalu have continued smoothly, with no emergencies or accidents reported.

However, the frosty weather has increased the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) for climbers, who are advised to keep a close eye on their health and take necessary precautions.

Symptoms of AMS include headache, dizziness, fatigue, and nausea. Climbers experiencing any of these symptoms should not hesitate to seek immediate help from their guides or park officials.

Mount Kinabalu, standing at 4,095 meters, is a popular destination for both local and international climbers.

Its unique ecosystem and breathtaking views attract thousands of visitors each year. Despite the frosty encounter, climbers have continued to flock to the mountain, showcasing their resilience and determination to conquer its peak.

As temperatures return to normal, park officials and guides will continue to monitor the situation to ensure the safety of all climbers. In the meantime, adventurers are reminded to bundle up, stay alert, and embrace the icy challenge presented by Mother Nature.
