A video went viral where a distressing incident of a car driving dangerously against traffic on the Pontian Highway triggered a police investigation.
The event occurred on May 9 at around 1:00 PM, on the highway stretch from Pontian to Johor Bahru.

12yo in the Car
The footage, shared in the “Bukit Indah Matters” community group, captures a chilling moment for a woman and her 12-year-old daughter as a Kelisa car approached them head-on in the fast lane.
The vehicle’s dashcam recorded the car going against traffic, passing by all the oncoming cars with just a narrow gap.
The driver successfully captured the details of the car driving illegally, including the car plate and the driver’s face, which revealed it was driven by a Malay man.

Police investigating
Iskandar Puteri Police Chief Kumaran noted that despite the viral nature of the video, no formal complaints have been filed yet.
However, he confirmed that the police would take proactive measures by opening an investigation under Section 42(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act, targeting reckless or dangerous driving, to prevent further occurrences.
This alarming incident has ignited heated discussions online, with many voicing concerns over a series of similar events recently, which pose serious risks to both individuals and public safety.
