Driving safely is a shared responsibility, but sometimes, even the most careful drivers can’t predict the actions of others on the road.
A recent incident in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, has brought this issue into the spotlight after dashcam footage of a collision went viral on TikTok.
The video, captured by a Perodua Axia driver, shows how quickly a routine drive can turn into a dangerous situation.
Perodua Viva made a sudden U-turn
On a dark, rain-soaked road near a school in Kubang Kerian, the Axia was moving at a cautious 40 kilometres per hour.
The driver was clearly mindful of the weather conditions, maintaining a safe speed and keeping their distance.
But in an instant, the calm was shattered. A black Perodua Viva, driving just ahead, made a sudden and unexpected U-turn without signaling or stopping.
The Axia driver had no time to react. The collision that followed was inevitable, with the front of the Axia slamming into the Viva’s side.
This wasn’t just a minor fender bender; it was a stark example of how poor decisions on the road can have serious consequences.
The female passenger in the Axia, whose voice can be heard in the video, expressed disbelief at the Viva driver’s recklessnes.
The Axia driver, now facing repair costs and an insurance claim, is a clear example that even the most vigilant drivers are at the mercy of others’ decisions.
