A Shell petrol station in Beseri, Kangar, Perlis has taken to social media to appeal for the safe return of their beloved cat, Misai, after he went missing on 26 October.
The station posted a plea on their TikTok account @shellbeseri, which quickly went viral as Malaysians rallied behind the search.
CCTV shows cat taken at 1.27am
According to CCTV footage shared by the station, Misai, a black and white cat with a distinctive moustache-like marking, was taken by an individual driving a Toyota Hilux 4×4 at around 1.27am.
Misai was not wearing his usual Shell uniform or collar at the time, which the station believes may have caused the individual to think he was a stray.
Suffering from potentially fatal illness
In the post, the station revealed that Misai is currently undergoing treatment for Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is a serious viral disease caused by Feline Coronavirus (FCoV) and can be fatal if left untreated.
Because of this, the team at Shell Beseri is urgently pleading for Misai to be returned so they can continue his treatment.
If anyone accidentally took him, we forgive you. Please return him to the station. We have the CCTV footage and we miss our cat,” the admin wrote.

They added that they would not mind if the person wanted to take Misai again after his treatment is completed. Their priority is ensuring his health.
‘Please return Misai
In another post, the station addressed the individual directly.
“Last saw Misai on October 26, 2025 at 1.27am. To the Hilux owner, if you see this, maybe you did not intend to steal him because he was not wearing his uniform or collar. Please return Misai.”
They also released additional CCTV footage from another angle to help the public identify the individual.
Shell Beseri told BuzzKini that sharing the footage was simply to raise awareness and encourage anyone who recognises the person to help bring Misai home.
Malaysians join the search
The post has since garnered hundred thousands of views with many netizens expressing concern and sadness over Misai’s disappearance.
Commenters urged the individual to return the cat, stressing that Misai’s health condition makes it urgent.

Some suggested that the station lodge a police report. However, Shell Beseri explained that they do not have enough information about the vehicle to file one.
For now, the Shell Beseri team is simply waiting and hoping that their much loved cat finds his way home so he can complete his life saving treatment.
