Story plot of Project Dreamcatcher!!
The series will revolve around seven local schoolgirls attempting to save their neighbourhood’s culture and history from being demolished to make way for development.
To do so, they will have to raise awareness via social media where they have to deal with conflicts, double-crossing and much more.
Assistant director JY said that to give the series a Malaysian twist, all characters will be wearing the (in)famous pinafore.
Additionally, they will have Chinese names too.
“Although the story is fictional, we tried to include local experiences and culture as much as we could such as eating durian and drinking teh tarik,” he said.
A recent Tweet also showed one of the characters enjoying an ais-potong.
Tailoring for local and foreign viewers
Speaking to Vulcan, director and project manager CK admitted that the characters would be more marketable in the international scene if they had Japanese voice actors.
“We’re also facing the challenge of finding local talents fluent in Japanese.
“On the bright side, we plan to dub Project Dreamcatcher!! in both English and Mandarin,” he said.
Let’s show our love for our local talents by giving them a watch when it officially launches! Stay tuned!
