Nasi kandar is undoubtedly a local favorite, especially if it comes all the way from Penang, the state which made the dish famous.
Now, Malaysians don’t have to go all the way to Penang just to have a taste of this flavourful dish as it will be served straight to them when taking an ETS train ride!
Penang nasi kandar to be served on selected ETS train rides
The program, which is dubbed as “Nasi Kandar Original Dari Pulau Pinang”, is the result of a collaboration between KTMB ETS, NKH, Segi Seri Group, and Nasik Kandar Transporter.
The first batch of nasi kandar was served to passengers who were onboard ETS 9175 on Feb 1 at its cafe coach located at Coach C of the train.
On Feb 2, the Penang nasi kandar was served on the same train while passengers on ETS trains EP9174, EP9175, EP9176 & EG9420 had their opportunity on Feb 3.
If you didn’t have the chance to taste the delicious nasi kandar, don’t worry! KTMB took to its Facebook account yesterday to announce that it will be serving the dish on selected trains in the foreseeable future.
The trains that will serve nasi kandar at its cafe coach include those travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth (EP9174, EP9176, EG9322), Butterworth to Kuala Lumpur (EP9175, EP9179, EP9177), Kuala Lumpur to Padang Besar (EP9420) and Padang Besar to Kuala Lumpur (EP 9279).
The post also said that the dish will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
One of the program’s collaborators, Nasik Kandaq Transport also showed viewers the process of them procuring nasi kandar from an undisclosed stall and delivering it to the ETS trains on TikTok.
