A group of Penang mechanics turned their flooded tire shop into a source of fun, going viral for their playful fishing and diving stunts.
According to videos posted on TikTok, the employees made the best of the heavy flooding caused by recent rainfall in Southwest Penang Island.
Fishing tyre in flooded pit
In one video, the workers are seen pretending to fish in the flooded repair pit, patiently waiting to catch something with a wooden stick.
Suddenly, they dramatically started struggling with the fishing pole as if they had a ‘big catch’, which ended up with one of them jumping into the water.
Instead of a fish, the mechanic triumphantly surfaced with a large tire, much to the delight of those watching, who cheered, calling it a “huge fish.”
Diving competition
In another video, the same group of mechanics took their fun a step further by staging a mock diving competition.
One employee held up a sign before leaping into the water-filled pit, with another quickly following suit.
The group plunged into the murky water, leaving viewers in stitches.
Netizens’ reaction
The videos have garnered widespread attention on social media, providing a moment of humor amid the ongoing flood situation affecting several areas across Penang Island.
“It is indeed sad… But they covered their sadness by making happy content… Hopefully, their livelihood will be blessed, and they will reopen the shop soon.. Amen.”
“Boys really are easily entertained.”
“Wow, changing business, boss?… Opening a fishing pond instead.”
