A man in Penang could hardly believe his luck after he was named the winner of the Magnum 4D Jackpot 1 worth RM8.17 million.
According to The Sun Malaysia, he attributed his win to a number combination which was inspired by a visit he and his wife made to a Chinese fortune teller.
“The fortune teller had encouraged me to pay attention to meaningful numbers in my life, and I decided to choose a combination based on my own IC number and my wife’s IC number.
“I then purchased a RM2 lottery ticket in Jalan Paya Terubong, Air Itam and kept playing the numbers 8852 and 5573 over and over again,” he said.
Shocked by win
When the man discovered that he had won RM8,169,660, he was so shocked and kept checking to see if his eyes were playing tricks on him.
“At first, I thought it was just another small prize because I often use the MyMagnum 4D app to check my tickets.
“When I realized it was RM8.17 million, I kept checking the screen again and again to make sure I wasn’t dreaming,” he said, adding he could barely sleep that night.
Although he’s now a millionaire, the man said he has no plans to quit his job as an accounts executive.
Instead, he’s planning to use the prize money to settle his debts, go on a holiday with his wife and allow her to retire comfortably while he continues working.
