Malaysia’s women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah have officially climbed to World Tour No. 1 for the first time, according to the latest rankings on the BWF World Tour website.
The duo now lead the women’s doubles standings with 104,860 points, marking a major milestone in their career.
Their strong performances throughout the season have pushed them ahead of China’s Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning, who drop to second place.
Separate from official world ranking
This World Tour ranking reflects points earned only from World Tour events.
In the official BWF world ranking, Pearly–Thinaah are still placed second, but their rise on the Tour shows their growing consistency and form this season.
Eyes on upcoming tournaments
The pair will compete next at the Japan Masters and the Australian Open, where they are top seeds as the Chinese pair will not be participating.
They will then head to the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou from Dec 17–21, aiming to break past the group stage for the first time.
Pearly–Thinaah’s rise to the top of the Tour rankings has been welcomed as a proud moment for Malaysian badminton, with fans hopeful this momentum will carry them even closer to the world No. 1 spot soon.
