TANAH MERAH – Muhammad Nasir, 62, has collected more than 6,000 Jalur Gemilang within a span of 23 years, with some even calling the former soldier ‘gila’ (crazy).
Despite being labelled as such, his patriotism has never wavered.
It’s sad to be called that, but my spirit will never fade. I will pick up every flag that falls on the road, no matter rain or shine.”
Fondly known as Pak Dor, Muhammad Nasir said he has been collecting flags from the roadside since 1998, where he was heartbroken to see the national flag being dumped indiscriminately.
Since then, his house has been adorned with the flags he picked up over the years, including his own van!
Apart from the flags collected himself, Muhammad Nasir added that some were given to him by visitors. He also said that some have even asked for flags from him too.
