A motorcyclist was killed in a freak accident along Jalan Mutiara Emas Utama in Johor Bahru (JB) after he drove his vehicle into an uncovered manhole yesterday morning (June 21).
The accident was later confirmed by Johor Bahru (South) police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, who released a statement shedding more light on it.
Fell into open manhole
According to Raub, he said the 36-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle from Mount Austin towards Johor Jaya at 8.20am.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the rider lost control and veered to the left side of the road before falling into an open manhole along the roadside.
The victim sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from Sultan Ismail Hospital,” he said as reported by NST.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses to the incident have been urged to contact investigation officer Inspector Nur Fathihah Ismail at 010-4171762 in order to assist police in their investigations.
