OnlyFans, a London-based content subscription service provider has announced its decision to reverse its previous announcement to ban pornographic material on its platform after facing immense backlash from users and creators.
The ban was revealed last Wednesday (Aug 18) and was scheduled to go live on October 1.
It also cited the need to “ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform” as the reason for the ban.
Founder Tim Stokely however claimed that it was the banks that forced him to propose the ban, adding that he had “no choice”, reported FT Times.
Following its backtracking of the ban, the company thanked everyone for voicing out their concerns and assured that it would continue to “provide a home for all creators”.
“We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change. OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.”
Thank you to everyone for making your voices heard.

We have secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community and have suspended the planned October 1 policy change.
OnlyFans stands for inclusion and we will continue to provide a home for all creators.
The company also added that it will email all content creators shortly over the reversal.
OnlyFans or OnlyFam?
OnlyFans was founded in 2016, where users can pay a person directly to view their content. It has also become synonymous as a platform for explicit adult content.
Ever since the ban was announced last week, the company has faced a flurry of concern and outrage among social media users, who accused OnlyFans of “betraying them” after helping to build it up.
