There’s been some buzz going around since yesterday, hinting that Malaysians aged 18 to 35 might be getting enlisted into PLKN.
In response to recent reports concerning the age restrictions in the National Service Training Program (PLKN), the Ministry of Defense has clarified that only individuals born in the year 2007, will be eligible to participate in the program.

Only teenagers will be enlisted
The Ministry of Defense has posted an official statement on its Facebook account, affirming that trainees will be selected based on their year of birth, and the program will exclusively enrol teenagers when it resumes.
In the statement, the Ministry said they will implement a birth year-based approach for PLKN 3.0.
Only individuals born in the year 2007 will be eligible for the program, aligning with the commencement of PLKN 3.0 in 2024.”

The Ministry also highlighted that in cases where selected trainees are unable to partake in the national service training due to legitimate reasons, they can apply for a postponement.
The maximum limit to become a trainee is up to the age of 35.” they said in the statement.
This clarification by the Ministry of Defense was made to address the confusion and concerns of the public.
With these explanations and clarifications in place, the Ministry of Defense hopes to put to rest any uncertainties and frustrations surrounding the age determination of PLKN 3.0 trainees.
