A chicken rice stall in Kuching, Sarawak is going viral on social media thanks to its quirky name and menu that has left Malaysians amused.
A photo of the stall was shared on Facebook by a kopitiam named 126 Laksa, where it has since garnered over 7,000 reactions at the time of writing.
Chicken rice stall goes viral over its creative name and menu
For starters, the stall’s name is cleverly made up of a wordplay for the Mandarin phrase ‘放飞机’, which means to stand someone up or ghost them at the last minute.
However, the stall uses the Chinese character ‘鸡’ instead of ‘机’ to reflect the fact that the type of meat used in its offerings was chicken.
Aside from its name, the stall’s menu also drew a lot of attention as it was named after different kinds of flight tickets one can purchase such as Economy, Business, and Premium Economy class.
The only ‘ticket’ type that didn’t have a photo was First Class, where it simply shows an empty plate with question marks hovering over it, suggesting that customers have complete freedom in concocting their own meal based on their personal preferences for RM18.
On top of that, customers can also opt for additional ‘features’ like ‘seat’ (rice), ‘travel protection’ (cucumbers), ‘adult’ (chicken meat), and ‘child’ (crispy chicken) to their meal.
The photo also showed the stall workers dressed in pilot uniform, further adding on to the stall’s quirkiness.
Netizens praise stall for its creativity
In the comment section, netizens couldn’t help but be impressed by the stall’s innovation in coming up with the menu and commended them for it.
For those who are wondering where the stall’s located, the address is Jalan Ban Hock, Kuching, Sarawak, and it’s open from 8.30am to 2pm.
