Myvi Crashes Into Uni Cafeteria In Ipoh After Driver Allegedly Steps On Accelerator By Mistake

No injuries were reported.
A Perodua Myvi crashed into the glass entrance of a university cafeteria in Ipoh this afternoon (Oct 7) after the driver allegedly mistook the accelerator for the brake.

The incident occurred at around 3.37pm inside the campus of a private university in Ipoh, Perak.

According to China Press, the 19-year-old female student was attempting to park the car when she suddenly lost control, causing the vehicle to surge forward and smash into the cafeteria located on the ground floor of the teaching block.

The impact left shards of glass scattered across the floor, though fortunately no injuries were reported. Initial estimates put the damages at RM7,500, though the exact figure is still being assessed.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin confirmed in a statement that the Indian female driver has lodged a police report. She has been issued a summons under Rule 16 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.

He added that the driver was unharmed, while the vehicle—belonging to a friend’s mother—sustained damage to its front bumper, bonnet, and both the front and rear sections.
