As we count down the days to celebrate our National Day on 31st August, Malaysians are already embracing the Merdeka spirit by decking out their spaces with Jalur Gemilang and sharing festive content on social media.
But one man has truly taken the celebration to the next level with his stunning Merdeka-themed kolam.
Recently, a Malaysian man has left everyone in awe by crafting an elaborate kolam at a KL hotel.
This isn’t just any kolam, it features a beautiful tribute to our first Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia’s iconic towers, temples, mosques, and of course, our beloved national flag – all created with vibrant, colourful rice.
Ganesh Creation, the mastermind behind this art, took to his Facebook page to share the process.
His photos reveal the intricate steps he took to transform simple rice into a breathtaking masterpiece.
In the first image, we see the meticulous details of Tuanku Abdul Rahman’s face, perfectly structured with rice.
Next, we’re treated to a representation of the iconic moment when Tunku Abdul Rahman declared Merdeka, capturing the essence of our independence.
The kolam continues with the Jalur Gemilang, followed by depictions of Malaysia’s iconic towers, temples, and mosques.
Each element is meticulously crafted, bringing to life a beautiful and patriotic celebration of our nation’s heritage.
The post has since garnered over 17,000 likes and more than 600 comments, with netizens expressing their admiration and support for this incredible kolam art.

Some netiznes have voiced concerns, noting that while the kolam is beautiful, placing the national flag on the floor might not be appropriate.
