In celebration of PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, Sony has released a special edition PlayStation 5 console, complete with classic PlayStation themes now available on the PS5.
For all the gaming enthusiasts out there, this is undoubtedly exciting news!
However, what’s even more shocking is the hefty prices some sellers are asking for these coveted consoles.
Recently, the PlayStation 5 ‘Anniversary Edition’ has become a hot item, with listings on Carousell reaching as high as RM35,000.
Yes, you read that correctly.
Scrolling through the Malaysia Carousell page, it’s easy to see why this special edition console has taken off in such a big way.
Prices are soaring, with listings ranging from RM15,000 to RM35,000.
Here are some of the listings that have caught attention:
One seller posted a listing with the description: “WANT TO BUY PS5 PRO 30TH ANNIVERSARY ‼️ OFFER ME YOUR PRICE,” asking for RM15,000.
Another seller priced their console at RM30,000, describing it as “PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary, PS4 20th Anniversary Limited Edition (New and Sealed).”
The highest price, however, was listed at RM35,000, with the description “[Pre-Order] PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition (JPN Set),” which appeared just two days ago on Carousell.
The resale of these limited-edition consoles is clearly a hot topic. While some may be thrilled to own a piece of gaming history, others are questioning whether the prices are too steep.
What do you think about the resale of these anniversary consoles? Are they worth the premium price, or are sellers simply cashing in on the hype?
