A burglar’s attempts to escape in a car were foiled after a group of residents in Taman Adika in Keningau, Sabah managed to stop him in time.
Tried to escape
According to The Star, the burglar had just broken in to a home at around 2.30pm on Monday (Oct 31).
As he was about to make his getaway, one of the resident rammed his four-wheel drive into the rear of the suspect’s car.
Other passersby who saw the incident quickly stepped in to help nab the suspect after he was forced to stop by the roadside.
In a now-viral video, it showed a resident yanking the burglar by the collar and tackling him to the ground.
The suspect was later tied to a lamp post before he was handed over to police.

Residents praised for swift action
Keningau OCPD Deputy Superintendent Nor Rafidah Kasim later confirmed that police were made aware of the incident.
She added that the suspect tried to escape in a black Perodua Bezza which had a fake number plate.
She also thanked the residents for acting quickly in apprehending the suspect and urged the public not to speculate on the case.
The case is now being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.
