Dad arrives at 11pm with his kids

Speaking to WeirdKaya, one man from Setapak revealed that he arrived at Dataran Putrajaya at around 11pm on Aug 30 together with his children.

His reason for coming so early was based on experience.

He shared that during previous celebrations, the area could already be packed by around 12am to 1am.

Not wanting to take the risk this year, he decided to arrive even earlier.

While waiting for the festivities to begin, his children could be seen sleeping at the venue as the family settled in for the long overnight wait.

The family was far from the only one sacrificing sleep for the celebration.

Several Malaysians whom WeirdKaya spoke to said they arrived at Dataran Putrajaya at around 4.15am, hoping to secure a good view before the crowds grew even bigger.

Another attendee also shared that they had made their way to the venue before dawn.

Despite the early hour, crowds could already be seen gathering around the celebration area as Malaysians waited for the morning programme to begin.

For many attendees, waking up before dawn or even spending the night at the venue appeared to be worth it for the chance to experience the National Day celebration up close.
