A Malaysian worker was initially upset when her leave request for a solo trip to Hatyai, Thailand, was denied by her company at the last minute. However, she now believes that decision might have actually saved her life.
Trip cancelled due to sudden work meeting
In a post shared by TTN, the woman said that she had fully planned her solo trip, with her flight tickets booked, hotel paid for, and a complete food and sightseeing itinerary prepared.

But the night before departure, her company summoned her for an urgent meeting and assigned her a last-minute project, which forced her to cancel everything.
At that time, she was furious and disappointed by the disruption.
To her shock, the very next day, severe floods struck Hatyai.
Videos sent by my friend showed cars floating, streets underwater, and people wading through waist-deep water carrying children,” she wrote.
She added that the hotel she booked was located in one of the hardest-hit areas, adding could not stop imagining how she might have been stuck alone, stranded without help if she had made the trip.
‘Boss actually saved me’
Looking back, the woman said the situation made her realise that the last-minute project was more of a blessing than a curse.

She jokingly referred to her boss — once thought of as a “villain” — as someone who unknowingly protected her from a disaster.
She ended her post by expressing her sorrow for those affected by the floods and her deep gratitude for avoiding the trip.
Recent floods in southern Thailand have caused heavy damage, affecting locals and tourists alike. Hatyai, a popular destination for many Malaysians, saw massive flooding that disrupted transportation and forced evacuations.
